Tour Description
What better way is there to experience a bit of French local life than spending the morning at the market? Often overlooked by tourists and much coveted by locals, Marché d’Aligre boasts an array of items from flowers to fruits, produce to pastries, with just about everything in between.
During this Paris market tour, you will hop from stand to stand in the company of your local host. They will introduce you to shopkeepers, give you the history behind various French delicacies, and show you how to order some of the best specialties around. You might taste some treats along the way while stocking up on others in preparation for a small end-of-tour picnic. Should you choose, you can wash it all down with a glass of French wine.
You’ll leave this food tour with both a newfound knowledge of local eating habits, as well as a belly full of tasty treats. But more importantly, you will have spent the morning living a truly French experience, as the local market traditions are alive and well in this part of the world.

We found directions to our meeting site on our phone, but would have benefitted from some more explicit directions from you or a link on your website. We ended up taking a very long walk in the rain and were late. Meg was charming and worked around our delay. We would have liked to spend some time with her in
Ble Sucre. More emphasis on the pastries and less on the cheese!

Small group size (3 of us plus Meg) was great. Much bigger would have been hard due to the size of the shops and how crowded the market was. I really appreciated Meg's knowledge of the vendors and shopkeepers, she obviously has taken the time to get to know these people, it was not an academic lecture. Very interesting. Meg also had lots of tips for me as I am moving here, which I found very helpful. Overall a great tour, much more interesting and personal than the chocolate/pastry tour (in English) that I went on the day before, booked with Viator.
