About Susan

Susan an award-winning food and drinks writer living in Paris. She studied with The Wine Spirits Education Trust (WSET) to advanced level in Wine & Spirits and recently qualified as a WSET Educator for their new Level 1 and 2 in Beer. She is an international wine, beer, and spirits judge who tastes thousands of samples at competitions worldwide. Susan says she tastes lots of things so other people can enjoy the very best! She has presented drinks segments on national television and radio and writes about food and drinks for various publications and was the Irish Food Awards Wine writer of the year.

Susan holds Undergrad and Master's Degrees in Theatre Studies, and is a playwright whose practice specializes in incorporating tastings into performances. Susan's Ph.D. research combines her love of theatre, storytelling and culture with her passion for food and drinks, by examining how elements of storytelling and theatre can enhance cultural and educational experiences. She has won an outstanding speaker award at the Oxford Symposium of Food and Cookery and the Julia Child OSFC prize for presenting her research.

Alongside her interest in food and drinks, Susan has almost two decades of experience designing arts and culture experiences, as well as extensive experience developing programs and influencing policy at government level to embed creativity into the lives of children and young people. She has worked with the Arts Council of Ireland, the Irish Department of Education, and the British Museum, and was proud to be a Fulbright Fellow at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, DC.

She looks forward to sharing her passion for food, wine, and French culture and her unique insights with you, while getting to know you through a wonderful Context experience.
