Tour Description
What better way is there to experience a bit of French local life than spending the morning at the market? Often overlooked by tourists and much coveted by locals, Marché d’Aligre boasts an array of items from flowers to fruits, produce to pastries, with just about everything in between.
During this Paris market tour, you will hop from stand to stand in the company of your local host. They will introduce you to shopkeepers, give you the history behind various French delicacies, and show you how to order some of the best specialties around. You might taste some treats along the way while stocking up on others in preparation for a small end-of-tour picnic. Should you choose, you can wash it all down with a glass of French wine.
You’ll leave this food tour with both a newfound knowledge of local eating habits, as well as a belly full of tasty treats. But more importantly, you will have spent the morning living a truly French experience, as the local market traditions are alive and well in this part of the world.

We had a wonderful time on our market and food tour with Andrea. We like to start trips with a food tour to help us understand the culture of a new city. It’s also a great way to get recommendations from the most knowledgeable people. Andres was super knowledgeable in so many areas and set us up for success in our Paris food journey! He introduced us to a life changing croissant and baguette and taught us what to look for. We loved that he took us to his favorite places as a local. Highly recommend if you want a taste of Paris’s best with a great guide!

The guides are why you pay (a lot) more for a Context tour. Andres is one of the very best we've had (and we've been a quite a few Context walks). He is knowledgable but not condescending or arrogant, friendly, genuinely excited to share his passion. Internet reviews are never even close to a bell curve, but Andres would really be one star above whatever your top is. I would sign up for another Andres tour without even knowing ahead of time the subject.
