Context Travel and our guide Blanca were terrific. Blanca’s immense knowledge of Alhambra through her expertise in architecture and history, coupled with her personal family experience living within the walls of Alhambra, made this fascinating place come to life. She started off by explaining the history of Alhambra, putting it in context with the history of Spain and the rest of the world at the time (using visual aids that my husband and I found very helpful) which gave us a unique perspective from the beginning when exploring the grounds. While explaining the detailed history of Alhambra, she was able to point out the details that would have otherwise been overlooked by us, such as the Arabic poetry written on the walls, to the use of Latin written on some parts of the palace. My husband and I spent two weeks in Spain and Portugal and took many tours with many guides and Blanca was by far the best. I highly and wholeheartedly recommend Blanca and Context Travel for visiting Alhambra.
