Are you ready to discover more about the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism? This journey will reveal Gaudi's talent and what lies behind his majestic works.
We’ll begin by looking at the history of Barcelona and the growth of the city, exploring the work of urban planner Ildefons Cerda, whose 1859 “enlargement” laid out the modern city. With this architectural context as a backdrop, you will make your way through the heart of Barcelona to see two of Gaudí's masterpieces: the Casa Milà (also known as La Pedrera), where we’ll explore its fantastical exterior, and the Casa Batlló, on the Block of Discord, where we’ll spend time on its roof and the apartment inside.
We’ll begin by looking at the history of Barcelona and the growth of the city, exploring the work of urban planner Ildefons Cerda, whose 1859 “enlargement” laid out the modern city. During the Gaudí tour, you will also look at the works of some of this architect's followers and rivals, including buildings by Puig i Cadafalch and Domènech i Montaner. You will discuss these Modernista architects’ influence on Gaudí and how they wove their unique points of view and inspirations into their finished designs.
By the end, you will have insight into Barcelona’s aesthetic evolution and what led Gaudí to construct incredible buildings that fight against the modern grid deliberately.

For this tour, your tickets are pre-purchased which allows you to skip the ticket office line upon arrival at the venue. You may still have to wait in a security line or in a line to have your pre-purchased ticket scanned.

The walk was well-designed and Bernat was very knowledgeable about the subject. Every participant definitely learned a lot. I would have liked to see more houses done by Gaudi himself and learn a bit more about the Catalan identity symbols in each style. We also ran over time a bit, but only because Bernat had the ability to answer everyone's questions - tell him to not be afraid to make us walk and talk sometimes! ;)
Overall, the walk was absolutely fantastic and I was very happy with it!

was very informative but was almost overwhelming! learned a lot and definitely have a completely different perspective of Gaudi's (and his contemporaries') contributions to architecture and society.

Overall very good. Maybe have a more clear synopsis/itinerary. Also, more photos of the buildings in the booklet, not just b/w maps. Colored photos maybe contrasting styles or do more contrasting of styles in general so why these ones stand out.
Docent was really nice, and informative. Maybe just speak a little louder or with more enthusiasm (not that he wasnt enthusiastic, he was, just on american/aussie standards, we are practically bouncing off the walls).
