We enjoyed seeing the Renaissance occupations decorating the exterior panels of the tower and considering how the Da=edalus-Icarus story came to be incorporated in the Christian imagery. The originals were inside the museum, which was somehow a let-down, as was the 19th century façade. Our guide was knowledgable about Ghiberti and the chronology of the doors. I might have chosen a less iconic building for a less crowded area. Climbing the steps (not part of the tour) was great.
The three hours we spent with Sandro flew by in a heartbeat. He whisked us back into ancient Rome, guiding us through its many historical layers and eras, always sharing fascinating insights and anecdotes that kept us fully engaged. We had such a great time, and it was incredibly informative. Experiencing a tour like this changes the way you see things and the way you perceive a destination. Well done, Context Travel, and well done, Sandro. Outstanding!
