There was more walking than I expected, but Stewart was able to tailor this to what we requested. We did make it up as high as possible near Mt. Fuji but the clouds came in late and we could not see the top. It was still well worth the trip and we avoided a lot of travel transfer pitfalls due to the experience of Context travel and Stewart, having lived in Japan so long. Specifically, where to get on and off the bus and the pirate ship around Hakone. Stewart made good suggestions for optional activities in order to maximize our tour, such as skipping the outdoor museum because we had already seen a lot of modern art. He also gave us extra history on Japan, as only one who had lived here would be able to do, and with his background as a teacher.
Stewart has been an exceptional guide. Not only does he have a vast knowledge of Japanese history, its customs, and culture but Stewart is also very personable and very helpful. He took the time to show and help us purchase our tickets for a ride on the Shinkansen. We thoroughly enjoyed his company throughout a memorable rainy day we all shared.
Stewart is a world class tour guide - professional, knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful. We spent the entire day with him as he expertly guided us through several Tokyo neighborhoods. Stewart was quite adept at providing a non-touristy experience. The highlight was a stop at a local artist’s studio.
