Nicole Griggs
Nicole’s passion for the history of architecture and art stretches back to her childhood. She was hooked after that first visit to an exhibition at the Met Museum in New York at the tender age of 5! It was research for her doctoral dissertation that brought Nicole to France in 2006. Working on a Columbia University led research project, not so humbly entitled Mapping Gothic France, cemented her desire to further explore a pivotal moment in Gothic architecture. Focusing on the 12th-century, her dissertation explores the notion of architecture as an expression of political power in France. As Gothic is a type of modernism, her research and interest extends beyond the Medieval period to include modernism of the 1920s-60s.
Wearing many hats, Nicole is an magazine editor, university professor, writer and historic consultant. Her approach to art and architectural history is equally informed by fine arts training as a teenager. Raised in a family of collectors and classic car aficionados, Nicole is an avid classic car enthusiast and, together with her husband, an art collector
