Keiko Kurisu was born, raised and educated in Hiroshima, with family roots extending back across centuries. During the war, many of her relatives were affected by the atomic bombing. Growing up, she often heard firsthand stories about their experiences from her family.

Wanting to do something meaningful as a native of Hiroshima, she first began volunteering as a guide at the Peace Memorial Park. This experience inspired her to study Hiroshima more deeply and eventually led her to pursue guiding as her profession.

Although she has spent most of her life in Hiroshima, her marriage to an American and having two daughters has given her a broader, more international perspective on the city.

Keiko has a deep love for Hiroshima’s history, culture, cuisine, and natural beauty, and she takes great joy in sharing her beloved hometown with visitors from Japan and around the world.
