Joerg is originally from Berlin. He was born into an old German-Jewish family in East Berlin back in 1967, and had his Bar Mitzvah at the East Berlin synagogue on Rykestrasse. He started working as a tour guide even while still in high school, giving his first tour on May 7th, 1985.

Joerg's family has been connected to Berlin for over 150 years, so Jewish Berlin is one of his favorite topics to talk about. It’s almost like a calling for him! Since the Third Reich had a significant impact on Joerg's family, he will include related threads in his tours. Have grown up in East Berlin and experienced daily life and the educational system under the Communist regime, he is thrilled when he has the chance to share his insights and, most importantly, share firsthand information with you.

Joerg remembers seeing the fall of the Berlin Wall when he was just 22 years old. From then on, he became part of the New Berlin, running an art gallery, and later a cocktail bar. But since it’s a passion, not a job, he's never stopped giving sightseeing tours.
