.Derek Mallett lives in Oakton, Virginia, about 30 minutes outside of Washington, DC. He has a PhD in history and taught military history for the US Army for over a decade. He loves wandering the streets of DC mostly because he loves the history and architecture of the city, but also because you never know who you might run into. Derek is a storyteller at heart, and loves introducing guests to the fascinating tales associated with so many of the sites of the US capital.
