About Ben

Ben Rubin works remotely as staff historian for the State of South Carolina 250th Commission, a state-run historical organization, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in the state. He also served as Senior Editor for The Francis Marion Papers, a multi-volume primary source collection published by the State of South Carolina. Previously he taught American History at Bloomfield College. He has appeared on a number of historical podcasts, including The Historyman Podcast, History Happy Hour, Decisive Battles, and on Walter Edgar's Journal for South Carolina Public Radio. In his spare time, Ben is also a musician who plays in multiple bands and owns a private music school, where he teaches piano, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, and music theory. Originally from Cincinnati, he now lives in Jersey City with his wife and two daughters.
