Tour Description
Our most popular family tour in Venice, this three-hour Venice scavenger hunt uses lions—the symbol of Venice—to trace a route in and around the Rialto and San Marco areas. Our experts will introduce your children to the idea of symbols in a cityscape and why the lion, in particular, is peppered all over Venice. The Venice family tour includes St. Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge, and other spots in the city center.
We’ll begin our tour with a visit to Saint Mark's Square, where we will start counting the lions—children usually love to compete and see who finds the most lions on the itinerary! En route to the Rialto Bridge, we will learn more about this fascinating city and search for its emblems on various buildings.
As an orientation to the city, the Venice tour for kids will vary based on the expertise of the guide since each will incorporate their hidden treasures to enhance your experience. Either way, your children will come away with an excitement for and knowledge of Venice. Looking for more to do in Venice with kids? Try our Venice in the Renaissance Tour for Kids.

What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. They are designed to provide a learning experience that is completely tailored to you and your traveling companions. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits in your trip), the ability to tailor your itinerary (we'll work to match the itinerary to the interests and dynamics of your group), and more personalized time with your guide.
Client’s children are in their early to mid teens. Is this walk appropriate for them?
Our family tours are primarily designed for children under the age of 12, and this one in particular is ideal for young kids. For teens we would recommend our private adult Introduction To Venice: St. Mark's To Rialto tour, the content for which can be adapted to an age-appropriate level.
Will this tour be engaging for parents as well?
Our guide will be able to answer the clients questions but the overall focus will be geared towards children.
Do clients go inside the venues or just see them from the outside?
No, this tour includes only exterior visits.

He was so great! Very patient with the kids and had lots of what seemed like extra knowledge of things outside of normal tours to share .

Matteo was very knowledgeable on all things Venice, focused from the first moment on our daughter and making sure she enjoyed the experience. The sheet showing the lions she needed to find was wonderful and she immediately started to find them as we walked without any prompting, which had her engaged from the beginning. She learned a lot and loved the clock in St. Mark's Square, circular staircase and overlook of the city, and the fish market the most. Matteo was also great at pointing out other sites we may want to visit, souvenir shops that were genuine and places to eat that were wonderful. Great experience!

Nadia was a lovely and informative guide. We learned so much about Venice's history and culture on the lion hunt. My kids were initially dubious about the task at hand, but Nadia's playful nature and light touch won them over. We all had a marvelous time. What was also miraculous is that while we were hunting for lions, we somehow didn't notice the crush of tourist crowds in this most intensely congested tourist zone of Venice. Our experience in the San Marco area was simply sublime; as it should be. Thank you for the amazing tour.
