Tour Description
Venice's Cannaregio neighborhood remains a respite away from the crowds of St. Mark's and is home to much of Venice's resident population. Largely avoided by tourists, this charming neighborhood provides an excellent opportunity to experience the magic of Venice without jostling for breath with large groups. During this three-hour Cannaregio tour, we'll spend equal time looking at art, architecture, and local character, providing you with an insider's sense of both modern and historical Venice.
Experts
A truly varied walk, this is the perfect choice for those looking to mix art, history, and lifestyle. Local bars, artisan shops, and small grocery stores remain intertwined with baroque facades and Tintoretto-decorated churches, giving Cannaregio a unique flavor. While the sites and route vary according to the group's and guide's interests, the tour may discuss the Gesuiti, Madonna dell'Orto, and Sant'Alvise churches, as well as the artistic heritage of the district, kept alive today through artisan shops and artists' studios.

We loved our walk with Louisa and especially liked that she was an ex-pat living in Venice thus giving her a similar perspective as we might have in the same situation. Our walk never felt like a tour but rather it was more like a casual stroll with a friend. We came away with a greater appreciation for the "real" Venice. We highly recommend this walk for those looking to get away from the tourist throng and see how the locals live.

It was great to get into a neighborhood in Venice and see what life is really like.
Erika was very knowledgeable of this area, had obviously a great relationship with the owner for the foundry, it was like taking a step back in time.
She seems passionate about the artist Tintoretto, aka Jacobi Robusto - I hope I remembered that correctly Erika!
The art was amazing and her story about his life really brought made it real for me, and understandable.
Thanks for a great walk and good recommendation on a restaurant next door to Tintoretto's home.
