This was a bit of a leap for me -- not the top of my wish list for Context tours, but it was the one with openings on the day I had free in Rome... and it turned out to be fascinating. Philip was great: totally approachable, easygoing and knows his stuff. He did a really good job of boiling down a complex history into an understandable timeline and making us see how all the pieces fit together -- not just in terms of the history, but in terms of the tangible archaeological evidence we can see. In the end, I was so glad I did this tour instead of one of the more obvious ones. I've been to Rome several times, and this took me to places I'd never seen and gave some really interesting insights on the history. The SS Quattro Coronati is a hidden gem. Both the chapel and the cloister were beautiful and places I never would have known even to look for. Thanks for a great experience.

This was also a wonderful tour, but I was very hot and sleepy (jet-lag), so I did not take away as much as I would have liked. Is there a reason that this tour is offered at 3:00 pm? I would have done better if it were in the morning . . . let me be clear that it was not the guide's fault -- he was great!
