Tour Description
Imagine the hum of conversation, the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the sweet, yeasty scent of baking bread. Stroll the picturesque streets of Rome, stopping every few blocks to savor a local specialty at small, family-run shops other tourists might miss.
This 3-hour tasting adventure focuses on Rome’s revered street food culture, offering a charming culinary wander through the city's heart with a local food expert. Your guide will be your translator, both in language and culture, unlocking a world of authentic flavors and experiences often intimidating to visitors.
Indulge in classic Italian food and drinks – strong coffee, fresh focaccia, creamy gelato, and crunchy biscotti. Sample cured meats and cheeses and maybe even discover seasonal delights like fried supplì (rice balls) or pizza by the slice.
Between culinary stops, allow your guide to dive deeper into Rome's rich culinary heritage, from its ancient Roman roots to modern influences. Learn about the city's fierce coffee rivalries, discover the secrets of perfect focaccia, and explore the art of artisanal gelato.
As your Rome food tour comes to a close, you'll have a newfound appreciation for Rome's vibrant food scene and the confidence to navigate cafes and shops like a local, armed with the knowledge and recommendations from your expert guide.

We had another fantastic morning - Chiara was very knowledgeable about the local cuisines and was also able to give us lots of information about the history and landmarks of the areas we went . Chiara took us to varied and very tasty shops - we were very happy with our tour

The food was wonderful but what made the experience incredible was our tour guide Giuseppe. Learning about Italian culture, history, and traditions is what made it so interesting. I highly recommend this educational culinary experience to anyone visiting and ask if Giuseppe is available.

I was really disappointed with my tour. I expected more from Context Tour as I have taken your tour in the past. For the Food tour we stopped at 5 stops and what we had is not what I would considered food. Here is the overview of the tour:
1. a coffee shop for coffee and a sweet baked good of our choice.
2. We then went to see the fresh food market followed by a stop at a grocery store that specializes in cheese and cold cuts. We had 4 types of cheese and 4 slices of assorted meat cold cuts.
3. We then went to Plazza Novonia where we were given information on the architecture of the Piazza
4. our next stop was for gelato
5. our final stop was for another coffee
To label this a food tour is a dismisdemeanour. For what I had paid for this tour I could have booked a tour through Viator which would at most cost me 50% of what I paid for the Context tour.
The guide right off told us he was an archaeologist. I feel like you offered this tour as it was something that other companies were doing but it is not your specialty. Context Tours usually offers excellent tour but I left so let down by this tour.
