Tour Description
This two and a half hour Uffizi tour for kids pairs families with an engaging, family-friendly guide for an interactive exploration of the Uffizi Gallery designed to bring this world-famous collection of Renaissance art to life for budding art enthusiasts and introduce them to the great masters of Italy.

We’ll begin our time together with a short introduction in Piazza della Signoria, discussing the Uffizi's structure and its relation to Palazzo Vecchio, Florence's town hall, as well as the importance of the Medici family. After spending some time outside, we will continue to the museum, where we will spend roughly two hours exploring the collection. Looking for the grown-up version of this tour? Try our Uffizi Tour.

The guide will begin an engrossing dialogue with your children about the art, focusing on recurring subjects, themes and symbols, the historical background in which these works were created, and biographical information about the artists, while creating an atmosphere of exploration and participation. By the end of the walk, your children will have a very clear idea of how and why art is created and will be able to better appreciate the artwork they will encounter throughout their trip.

In order to plan the best possible experience for your children, it would be helpful for us to know some background. Have they traveled to other countries in the past? If so, where? Have they studied any subjects in school that would relate to the walk? Are they interested in art, music, or even food? The more you can tell us, the better.
What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. They are designed to provide a learning experience that is completely tailored to you and your traveling companions. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits in your trip), the ability to tailor your itinerary (we'll work to match the itinerary to the interests and dynamics of your group), and more personalized time with your guide.

Will you pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, we pre-purchase timed tickets to the Uffizi. Your guide will have them on hand, and we will enter the museum together as a group. However, please keep in mind that we will still be required to wait in the security line. The Uffizi is extremely crowded, and at times, this line may take up to 20 minutes. Regardless, our guide will spend this time wisely by providing an overview of the history of the collection.

There are 10 in my group but your website won't allow me to include more than 9 participants. Can't you make an exception?
No, unfortunately, due to venue reservation restrictions, we cannot accommodate groups larger than 9 people. If your group is larger, we recommend that you split into multiple groups.

Can we include the Vasari Corridor (Corridoio Vasariano) in this tour?
No, unfortunately, we cannot include the Vasari Corridor in this tour due to the logistics of the itinerary. While the corridor is a remarkable site, its difficulty in securing tickets and its tight timing make it incompatible with the structure of this tour.
We understand that some of our valued guests may have mobility concerns, and we want to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout your tour. If there are any accessibility concerns that your tour guide will need to be aware of, please let our team know at the time of booking.

Is this tour wheelchair-friendly?
Given its significance and the vast number of visitors it attracts, the venue has made efforts to improve accessibility for all its visitors, including those with disabilities. However, it's worth noting that the collections are housed in a historic building which can present certain challenges for accessibility. Additional details are available here. Please communicate any mobility needs or concerns with our team at the time of booking.

Accessibility Notice: Starting December 2024: The elevators to the second floor are currently out of service due to renovations. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated timeline for their return to service. Please note that our gallery begins on the second floor. Visitors will need to use the stairs unless prior arrangements are made. For guests with disabilities who cannot use the stairs, an alternative route is available. However, this path adds approximately 1 kilometer to the tour, requiring the use of an elevator at the museum's exit and additional walking time back to the entrance. This may extend the overall tour time. We are happy to accommodate this option, but it is crucial to let us know when you book so we can inform your guide and ensure everything is prepared in advance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Monica was great - really liked how she engaged us and asked questions and involved everyone. Made a lasting impact.
Please read below our comments on the other walk first. This second walk was altogether more successful. It was good not having to chase our tails with trying to get in the right line with the right ticket - Alessandra, the Italian guide was most helpful. The kids had a brilliant time in the Uffizzi and easily lasted the two plus hours, inquisitive and questioning until the end. The trip played far more to Elizabeth's interests and strengths and we covered far more ground and it was far more interactive (though to what extent that was also down to the kids - primarily the younger two - asking endless(!) questions and making endless(!) observations). We'd done a bit of preparation with them particularly Botticelli's Primavera and tried to help out with explaining some of the religious symbolism. The only thing that was lacking was again some anecdotal information about the painters and their patrons. Kids really engage with things like that - for example that the artists names were often nicknames or perhaps peculiar quirks / notoriety etc. The more outrageous or gruesome the story, the more memorable and the more alive the experience becomes. Again my criticism here would be that perhaps more thought might be given to the 'story / journey' that is being made in order to make it a cohesive and complete event. A conclusion would have been good - how had the images changed from the first to the last painting viewed etc. The walk rather tailed off which (as with the Renaissance Life walk) emphasised the feeling that we were going from image to image (or place to place) without a sense of being taken through a story or having made a journey. So, all in all, we thought the Uffizzi trip was worth doing but I think we'll need some convincing that Context can really deliver the very high quality programmes it promises!
I liked seeing a limited number of paintings, learning the history behind them and the evolution of the artist's techniques. The walk was well structured and organized. At times being in a museum, it was a challenge to keep 2 younger children fully engaged and but she did it well.
