Tour Description
Imagine the wide-eyed wonder and awe as your child turns the corner to gaze up at a burst of shimmering emerald green and snowy white in the heart of the city. Picture their joy exploring the narrow streets that feel like secret passageways, their curiosity as they decode the stories carved into the Baptistry door, and their enthusiasm exploring the unique shops on the Ponte Vecchio.

Led by a Florentine expert, your child will uncover the hidden symbols of Florence, including lilies and the Strozzi's moons, while learning about the city’s most prominent attractions. Your guide will weave a captivating story into your exploration, bringing the Renaissance era to life for both children and parents.

You may also see the beloved Porcellino (little pig) who stands guard at the town market. No child visiting Florence can resist touching his golden snout!

Allow the city to come to life and revel in its rich history and playful spirit. Now that you’ve been introduced to some of its most colorful characters and enduring legends!

From here, your children will have a better understanding of the city, and you’ll feel more comfortable exploring Florence further together as a family.

Additional Trip-Planning Resources

A few things that pair well with this tour:
  • A curious mindset and an eagle eye for spotting hidden symbols
  • A few spare minutes to ride the carousel in Piazza della Repubblica
  • A place on your phone to jot down restaurants and other destinations your expert might recommend along the way
My children are in their early to mid-teens. Is this walk appropriate for them?
Our family tours are primarily designed for children under the age of 13, and this one, in particular, is ideal for young kids. For teens, we would recommend our private Introduction To Florence: With Accademia And Michelangelo's David tour as the content can be adapted to an age-appropriate level.

Will this tour be engaging for parents as well?
Parents are encouraged to ask questions and explore along with their children. Our guides are happy to make this experience valuable for adults as well, but keep in mind that the overall focus will be geared toward children.

Do we go inside the Duomo or just see it from the outside?
All venues are seen from the exterior only on this tour.

Will there be a place to stop for a restroom if needed?
There will be time for a bathroom stop, as well as several places to rest for a quick break as you explore.
We understand that some of our valued guests may have mobility concerns, and we want to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout your tour. If there are any accessibility concerns that your tour guide will need to be aware of, please let our team know at the time of booking.

Is this tour wheelchair-friendly?
Florence can present some objective difficulties for visitors with reduced mobility. In the oldest part of the city, the sidewalks are narrow and the surfaces of both streets and sidewalks can be uneven.

Please contact us to further discuss booking this tour if a member of your party has mobility concerns.

Out of our 5 Context Tours this trip this one was our favorite! Kristin was excellent. She took us to an old home/palace that we would never had seen and we got to pretend to throw hot oil on burglars through trap doors! We saw so much and had a wonderful time.
Valerie was great and enthusiastic. She was very knowledgeable and related well to kids. She kept the attention of my two 12 year old boys for 1 3/4 hours. A miracle for my boys. We all learned a lot . Very fun tour. Can’t say enough good things about Valerie.
Kristin did a great job as a guide. It was great to spend time with an academic who had the ability to pull so many threads together to weave a story that we and our kids were intrigued by. Our 11 and 13 year olds loved the tour and so did we. Content regarding sex/prostitution was a little too mature for our 11 year old.
