Tour Description
Please note: The Van Gogh Museum has restricted tour operator access due to new regulations. As a result, during the months of June-August (2025), Context is offering only small-group tours (maximum 5 guests). If this doesn't suit your schedule, contact us to explore alternatives.

From the famous sunflowers to iconic landscapes and self-portraits, Van Gogh and his work continue to influence our cultural imagination. But who was this man, and how did his tumultuous personality and relationships manifest in his art? Our Van Gogh Museum Tour will explore just this...

The story of Vincent Van Gogh combines high drama and a remarkable outpouring of creativity. Throughout his life, the artist suffered highs and lows, states and extremes that are expressed in his masterful, beautiful paintings. As you move through the Van Gogh Museum with your expert, you will come face to face with some of the most remarkable works the artist produced. You will learn to read the details and nuances in his paintings and learn the circumstances around why and when he painted them.

You will leave the museum with far more knowledge and appreciation for Van Gogh’s work and certainly a new approach to observing his paintings in the future.

A Truly Memorable and Inspiring Experience We had the absolute pleasure of having Sabry as our guide for the Van Gogh Museum tour in Amsterdam, and the experience exceeded all expectations. Sabry was not only deeply knowledgeable and passionate about art history, but also wonderfully engaging and funny — which brought the entire experience vividly to life for us. It’s rare to find someone who can share their enthusiasm with such clarity and authenticity. We didn’t just learn about Van Gogh’s life and work — we felt his story. Sabry helped us understand Van Gogh not only as a genius, but also as a person shaped by his time, his relationships with his peers, and especially his bond with his brother. Seeing Van Gogh through this broader lens gave us a much deeper appreciation for his creativity, his struggles, and the incredible productivity of his short life. We left with a new understanding of what it means to live the life of an artist. The pace was perfect, the content was rich, and Sabry’s personal insights made the tour unforgettable. It was clear this is more than just a job to him — it’s a calling. We walked away not only informed, but also deeply inspired. We highly recommend Sabry to anyone visiting Amsterdam — whether you're an art lover or simply curious. This tour transforms a museum visit into a meaningful, memorable experience.
Roser was excellent. Could not have been better.
